We collect the information you give us directly: your name, email, native language, country, and phone number; whether you've opted in to marketing email; the answers, essays, and quiz responses you submit for grading; and voice recordings from Speaking Practice and the placement test's speaking section. We don't collect a shipping address, and there's no cart or wishlist, since InChek is a purely digital service.
We also generate information from your use of the Service: pronunciation scores and transcripts from your voice recordings, the grammar and vocabulary patterns our system tracks to personalize your lessons (your "learning path"), and records of your logins, page views, and dictionary lookups.
We also measure how long you spend on each step of a lesson and where you stop, to improve the lessons. This does not include what you write or say.
InChek uses a small number of first-party cookies: one to keep you signed in, one to remember your chosen language, one anonymous visitor identifier used only to count page views on our own site, and one that remembers your cookie choice. We never store your raw IP address.
We use Google Ads cookies (such as _gcl_au and _gcl_aw) to measure whether visitors who arrive from our Google ads go on to sign up, but only if you accept them in our cookie banner. Google receives the address of the pages you visit on inchek.ca and app.inchek.ca, with learner access tokens removed, plus the ad-click identifier. If you decline, or haven't chosen yet, no Google cookies are stored and Google receives at most limited signals without cookies. We don't use Google Ads for ad personalization or remarketing, and we don't send your name, email or lesson content to Google. You can change your choice at any time with the button below, and manage Google's ad settings at adssettings.google.com.
We also use the Meta Pixel (cookies such as _fbp and _fbc), only if you accept it in our cookie banner, to measure whether visitors who arrive from our Facebook and Instagram ads go on to sign up or buy. Meta receives the address of the pages you visit on inchek.ca and app.inchek.ca, and sign-up and purchase events (for a purchase, the plan's price and currency). The pixel doesn't run on pages opened from a personal lesson or placement link. We don't send your name, email or lesson content to Meta. Meta may use this information under its own terms; see facebook.com/privacy/policy.
Most of what we collect comes directly from you, through the placement test, your daily lessons, and your account settings. Some comes from the payment processor you use when you make a purchase, which shares your name, email, and payment status with us so we can activate your account.
We use your information to deliver and grade your lessons, personalize your curriculum, process payments, send transactional email (like your daily lesson and account notices), respond when you contact us, and, only if you've opted in, send marketing email.
We share information with the service providers that run InChek: Render (hosting), Supabase (database and file storage), Anthropic (grading your written and spoken submissions with Claude), Microsoft Azure AI Speech (transcribing and scoring your Speaking Practice recordings), Resend (sending email), PayPal or Airwallex (processing payments), Google (measuring our Google ads, as described under Cookies), and Meta (measuring our Facebook and Instagram ads, as described under Cookies). We don't sell your personal information.
The Service may reference or link to third-party sites, including our payment processors. We aren't responsible for the content, policies, or practices of those sites.
InChek is intended for adult learners. If you're a parent or guardian purchasing on behalf of a minor, you're responsible for that decision and for reviewing this policy on their behalf.
Speaking Practice voice recordings are automatically deleted 30 days after you submit them. Your lesson content, submissions, and grading are kept for as long as your account is active, since they form the notebook your learning path is built from. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time by contacting us. Step-by-step instructions: how to request deletion of your data.
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to receive a copy of it, by contacting us. You can also opt out of marketing email at any time from your account settings or by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing message; this won't affect transactional email about your lessons or account.
Your information may be processed in Canada, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate. If you're learning with us from Brazil, the European Union, or the United Kingdom, you may have rights under your local law (including Brazil's LGPD); contact us to exercise them.
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, contact us first so we can try to resolve it. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the revised version here and update the "Last updated" date.
